Syndicate 382's average return on underwriting capacity since 1975 has been 16.20%.
On net written premiums, the average return over the same period was 26.6%.

The graph to the right shows how the syndicate responded to the poor rating environment. In, for example, 1998 and 1999, rating levels led to the Syndicate reheating from large volumes of business. This disciplined underwriting approach has helped maintain profits throughout the underwriting cycle, even when volumes have fallen.
Underwriting Performance
Hardy has effectively managed and utilised capacity in line with the underwriting cycle. This protects Hardy's capital and ensures security for insureds and reinsureds as well as investors.
