Overview

The marine and aviation accounts are managed together under the leadership of Mervyn Sugden. These accounts have been underwritten at Hardy for many years with specialist expertise developed across the sub-classes.

Aviation

Hardy has successfully underwritten aviation risks for over 25 years and is a market leader of general aviation business, particularly rotor wing aircraft. The aviation team is Mervyn Sugden, Robert Kemp, Alex Cullen and Kirsty Chan.

Cargo & Specie

The cargo book covers the transportation and storage of a broad range of products and commodities. The specie book includes jewellers block and fine art, and is written across a wide range of territories. Business is underwritten facultatively and through facilities, including binding authorities.The team also writes a small motor account, specialising in classic cars and other niche areas. The Cargo and Specie team is Ed Barker, James Blewett, Gary Chick, Annika Rule and Robyn Martin.

Marine

The hull team has recognised lead capability and a strong following in the Lloyd's market. It underwrites a broadspread of marine risks, specialising in fishing vessels, harbour craft and loss of hire. A small energy book is written and the team is also developing a liability account to complement the short tail business. The marine team is consists of Charles Scott-Hopkins and Charlie Fletcher assisted by Georgie Dunley.

International transit & storage insurance coverage including:

  • Commodities such as oil, fuel, corn, sugar, rice and other market driven interests
  • Metal and precious metals including iron, steel, copper and gold
  • Manufactured goods ranging from vehicles, heavy equipment and air spares to finished products such as electronics, clothing and other consumables
