Bermuda
As well as being the Hardy group's domicile, Bermuda is home to Hardy Bermuda Limited ("HBL") a Lloyd's Service Company trading on behalf of Hardy's syndicate 382, and wholly-owned by Hardy Underwriting Bermuda Limited. HBL operates as a platform for the Hardy group to underwrite business from Bermuda, predominantly originating from the Americas. This allows us to get closer to many of our clients in the region and to develop closer working relationships with brokers both in Bermuda, and locally, particularly those in the U.S.
Some of the benefits of working with HBL include:
- Business placed through HBL is on behalf of syndicate 382, ensuring access to the licensing and ratings of Lloyd's;
- Syndicate 382's United Kingdom domicile allows it to take advantage of the U.S./U.K. double taxation treaty, hence not incurring Federal Excise Tax on premiums;
- Responsive underwriting teams who will work with their clients to add real value and first class service;
- Ready access to HBL's underwriters on the ground in Bermuda, encouraging the creation of strong relationships

Focus
HBL focuses primarily on property business mostly, but not exclusively, from the United States. We are active in:
- Direct & facultative property insurance and reinsurance
- Property treaty

- Strong emphasis on U.S. business
- Property treaty - Cat XL, Risk XL, Pro Rata, and ILW
- D&F property - Primary, excess, and proportional. All occupancies
